Our Story
Mystic Entertainment was founded by Melissa Jackson and Nikhil Melnechuk to tell stories of people with a unique passion and voice that compels them to rise above.
Mystic Entertainment works with producers, directors, crews, technicians, and talent from across the indie film landscape. The adventure began in 2018 with a trio of short films, JACK AND JILL (Dir. Nikhil Melnechuk), FEVAH (Dir. Randall Dottin), and HUNG UP (Dir. Damon O’Steen), which earned Mystic a reputation on the festival circuit. In 2022, Mystic moved into feature films, joining Big Mouth Production’s THE EASY KIND (Dir. Katy Chevigny) which premiered at Telluride 2024 and signed Visit Films for sales.
In 2024, Mystic filmed its second feature DAISY (Dir. Nikhil Melnechuk), currently in post-production. In 2025, Mystic produced its first music video MORGAN WADE: HARDWOOD FLOOR for Sony, and began producing bespoke campaigns for brands such as Prospect Berkshires Resort, Alander, and Love, Laura. This year, THE EASY KIND was acquired by Persimmon and releases theatrically June 3rd at IFC Center in NYC, before starting a summer nationwide special event tour leading up to its August 13th digital release.

Melissa Jackson is an award-winning actress, writer, and producer based in New York City. She acted opposite Russell Crowe in THE NEXT THREE DAYS, and starred in and produced JACK AND JILL, FEVAH, and HUNG UP for Mystic Entertainment. She won numerous Best Actress festival awards for FEVAH alongside Russell Hornsby and LaRoyce Hawkins. Jackson founded Marilyn Violet Foundation, a non-profit that supports children in need. She can currently be seen in Katy Chevigny’s Nashville music feature THE EASY KIND, and in DAISY, coming soon.
Nikhil Melnechuk is an award-winning filmmaker, and a graduate of Wesleyan University. He wrote and directed narrative festival hits JACK AND JILL and SOMETHING HAPPENED. Melnechuk produced Bebe Neuwith’s directorial debut JEROME’S BOUQUET, Mystic Entertainment’s short films, and the acclaimed feature documentary DON’T BE NICE. Recently, he produced Katy Chevigny’s Nashville music film THE EASY KIND, consulting produced Flemming Fynsk’s THE ART WHISPERER, and directed DAISY, coming soon.
